The District of New Hazelton would like to inform the public that a second public hearing will be held for the District of New Hazelton Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 388, 2025.

District of New Hazelton Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 388, 2025 is intended to replace District of New Hazelton Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 332, 2016. An Official Community Plan is a statement of objectives and policies that are intended to guide decisions on planning and land use matters. The bylaw contains policies that address: Economy, Energy, Economic Development, Agriculture and Food Security, Health and Quality of Life, Housing, Arts and Culture, Infrastructure/Technology and Utilities, Community Water and Sewer Services, Environment, Leisure/Recreation/Education Services and Facilities, Solid Waste Management, and Parks and Trails. Upon review by the Agricultural Land Commission, some minor changes have been completed in accordance with their recommendations, which prompted the need for a second public meeting.

Copies of the Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 388, 2025 are available at the District of New Hazelton Office, 4670 10^th Ave. Requests for an electronic copy of the bylaw may be submitted to info@newhazelton.ca.

At the Public Hearing, all persons who believe they are affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard or to present written submissions respecting matters contained in the bylaw that is the subject of the hearing.  Written submissions may be forwarded to Wendy Hunt, Chief Administrative Officer, by 4:00 pm on January 30^th 2026.
