Rail Safety Week is September 21-27, 2026
Rail Safety Week is a national awareness campaign led by CN and Operation Lifesaver Canada, encouraging the public to stay safe around railway crossings and railway property. The campaign highlights the importance of paying attention at crossings, avoiding trespassing on railway property, and making safe decisions near trains and tracks.
As we recognize Rail Safety Week, take a moment to remember these important rail safety tips:
- Always stay alert at railway crossings and obey all signs and signals.
- Never cross tracks when a train is approaching.
- Avoid distractions, such as phones or headphones, near railway crossings.
- Stay off railway tracks and railway property unless you are at a designated crossing.
- Be aware of your surroundings around trains and rail corridors.
- Help spread rail safety awareness and encourage others to make safe choices near tracks and trains.

Rail safety is a shared responsibility, and public awareness plays an important role in preventing injuries and saving lives.
Let's work together to keep our community safe around tracks and trains!
